Re: The long foot c and c# keys

To chime in with Richard, my current Henry Wylde and former E. Baak and F&P, all with pewter plugs for the low C and c#, have worked perfectly and been in perfect tuning as well.

Re: Cork Grease - ecological

Not going for the ecological angle here, nor the ethics of beeswax/honey, but I've long wondered if there is any reason we couldn't use something like Burt's Bees lip balm as cork grease, too...then you can have both unchapped lips and smooth cork connections on your flute. Has anybody tried some fo...

Re: The long foot c and c# keys

Regarding Boehm foot joint keywork...I really thought it might work best for me since I have a very short pinky, but I found it to be unusable. The old style is best for me, and I suspect best for those with medium/small hands and short pinkies.

Re: The long foot c and c# keys

Dave Copley still offers the low C and C#. I don't see the 8 key configuration on his site, but when I ordered my 8 key delrin it wasn't on his list/site, either...it was the other configurations as discussed option for keys.

Unfortunately, I never made it to the session while I was in LA.

Re: Went nuts and bought the Water Weasel from the Irish Flute Store

So what makes it great? I'm curious to hear the good things about it. :) It's wonderfully in tune, and being CPVC it warms up quickly, which is nice during gigs. It also doesn't clog up with condensation easily. I love the tone. It's not overly loud, which some of the plastic whistles are (I'm talk...

LOL...I'm incredibly curious how the seller knows the flute "works"!

I've seen some really weird things on eBay, but this may just take the cake...flute actually looks to be in pretty good shape, though!

Re: Went nuts and bought the Water Weasel from the Irish Flute Store

Just got back home from Baltimore and the whistle was waiting for me. What a great whistle! I can't wait to break it out at session tomorrow.

Went nuts and bought the Water Weasel from the Irish Flute Store

So, after, what is it now, one or two decades of regret for not buying a Water Weasel from Glenn himself, I jumped into the deep end and picked up the one that popped up for sale on the Irish Flute Store site. I know the Bb Water Weasel Turlach Boylan plays is one of my favorite whistles of all time...

Just chiming in to say I love my O'Brien 3 piece delrin rover, and I love my O'Briain tweaked feadog, too. However, you spell it, you get a nice whistle.

Re: Symptoms of Blackwood allergy?

That list is interesting Kevin...who knew Cocus and European Boxwood would both rate 2 stars on this scale. The cocus I can understand, but I would have thought European Boxwood would be 1 or zero stars.
