Aaron,
There's some information in O'Neill's IRISH MINSTRELS. If you don't have a copy, I'd be glad to photocopy the section for you.
Also, I don't remember if it was An Piobaire or The Pipers' Review, but there was a blurb on Egan recently.

OT: Smallpipes for sale
I know this is non-uilleann-piping related but it's a bagpipe, and well, that's where the similarity ends!
Scottish smallpipes for sale, in key of Bb. Lovely. PM me for more info.

Western Massachusetts sessions
Hi there, I read with interest your note about the Dalton session. I live in Northampton and there is a session here Thursday night, one in Amherst Friday night, and one in Greenfield Sunday night. Good to hear that it's "spreading" out that way.

Flat chanters
With regards to the C#, I find that sound very attractive. It's got quite the "buzz" and sound properties that other sets don't have. While I truly can appreciate and like any pitch of pipes, I do enjoy listening to the flat chanters more, a bit, than the D-chanters. With regards to playin...

Mr Deegan's bass regulator extension and usage
Dickie's Woofe set has a bass reg with an extension that gives a low D note. He doesn't use it in dance music except at the end of a piece. Do you know his reasons for not playing it in dance music except at those times? I'm personally very interested in obtaining such an extension for the bass reg...

North Hero
As usual, the performances and instruction provided at North Hero this year was of very high quality. I particularly enjoyed Jimmy O'Brien-Moran's classes, performances, lecture, and banter. The vendors had a variety of material for sale, and it's always a pleasure to see Mac Harg's pipes on display...

locale
Jonathon, I'm not surprised! I heard some talk last year that the town was trying to decide whether to renovate or tear down completely and build new. I guess I assumed that in either case, the Pipers Gathering would eventually return to the town itself and not become a permanent event at Shore Acr...

North Hero Town Hall
I'll be glad when the town hall situation is resolved in North Hero and the workshops and concerts return to the great indoors - not that I've seen any air-conditioning in that part of the country yet. Bill, I've heard that the Town Hall has been condemmed and will not be used at all, anymore. So i...

North Hero, VERMONT
I will also be in attendance this year. Although, for the past three, four?, years I've been there. I'm staying at the Holiday Harbour which is approximately a 10-minute drive north of Shore Acres.

Ballintore Jig
Do pardon my beginners' knowledge, or lack thereof, but I do recall that the track labelled as The Ballintore Jig on Paddy Keenan's first recording is actually more than one tune and at that, a hornpipe at first. I could be drastically wrong but maybe someone should take a listen? I'll do it first t...

I suppose one thing could just be that bagpipes have a limited enough audience (both players and listeners) so as not to support concerted efforts at modernization. Seems like maybe you need a certain critical mass of players before there's enough of a market for modern tweaks of old instruments. H...

Sessions -- Lake Geneva, Wisconsin
I shall be flying into O'Hare airport on Sunday night and then being driven to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Are there any sessions around either location? I'll be there until that Friday. My knowledge of that area is very limited and my east-coast ignorance shows clearly. Thank you! Jonathan Hohl Massach...
