Mickey Dunne's pipes

I just returned from a mind-blowing East Coast Tionól. We were all lucky to have Mickey there. The craic was brilliant! I was fortunate enough to play Mickey's set of pipes. He has a O'Briain chanter, regulators, but his own drone stock and drones. The set is a powerful one and has a very different ...

Re: I,m a piper

Twenty-one years, correct? :boggle: Just come in from a night out, where anti – british songs are still all the rage(come out you black and tans , and so forth) and thinking how parts of Ireland are missing out on the real dept of culture as far as trad music is concerned it’s a real shame . Ive had ...

I've definitely found Fort of the Jewels to be yet a different recording than the last. While I enjoy Leitrim's Hidden Treasure , the actual recording isn't that high-quality. I found that A Piper's Dream had a much better recording process overall but found the fade-aways and nearly jump-starts to ...

Incredible, Lewis. Lots of killer humidity -- 85%. Massive rainstorm/thunderstorm Sunday night. Andy May, Brian McNamara, Hamish/Fin Moore, David Power, Sam Handwich and Augusta Vindt . . . all were great to see along with the usual suspects.

Debbie has at least one other set. She has a full set in D from Koehler & Quinn. Absolutely beautiful instrument in both appearance and sound.

Movin'

Hey Joyce. You know I want to try this move as well. If you and S. could manage it, could always have one person enroll in a graduate program at UCC. I was particularly interested in the traditional music and Irish-language programs. From what I understand, with my limited (!!!!) experience, finding...

Thanks Glands and Reedman, Whilst I would dearly love to buy Pat's full set, I am not in the financial position to do so. I do have a very nice half set consisting of Adrian Jeffries Chanter and Lambe Drones. All I need know is a regulator or two, or three, which would obviously be far cheaper for ...

Peter, I imagine that you have some gems in your collection of photographs? Any that you could or would share? David, that Kenna set of mounts is particularly interesting. We'll have to consider an iteration of that design if nothing else of interest strikes our fancy. Got any scrap wood for a test...

Pitchers

FYI, you said: D Narrow D C Narrow C C# B Narrow B Bb It should probably say, in my experience: D (narrow-bore D) C# C B Bb Pretty much anything C# and below *are* narrow-bored chanters. I play a wide-bore D chanter (part of a 3/4 set). I have, on loan from a generous friend, a half set pitched in B...

Irish Arts Week

Gary, it was nice to meet you as well in addition to all the new faces that I became acquainted with. It was a brilliant week and I look forward to next years. . . Although, if I'm in Ireland I think I'll choose the Willy Clancy over IAW. Then maybe Tubercurry, Achill . . . . and on and on. :boggle:
