Re: Copley, Gallagher, or other for small hands and comfort?
One other type of flute mentioned here that can get around the key reach problem is the Siccama-style one which have been made at least by Terry McGee in Australia and may be made by one or two others. It has a key for the E and A which is usually open and you close those two holes with the keys. It...

Looking to buy a Piccolo
I'm trying to find a tuneable blackwood piccolo (in the key of D) to play, preferably a 19th century one in playable condition. I used to have a nice Boosey and Co six-key one that I played loads but then after losing it (tragedy) I never found one that was a solid player. I play left-handed so in p...

Lost Jerome Thibouville Lamy parallel bore flute
Now this really is a long shot, because I lost it 14 years ago at the Irish Centre in Tottenham, but I would be very interested to see if it did end up in another players hands. Re: Abel Siccama - Very Interesting Tone
Getting my Siccama back from the repairer tomorrow and really looking forward to it. Been my regular flute for about 15 years now and I love it. The tone is loud and rich but also very sweet and responsive. I'll post again when I've got it and might even try to attach an audio file.

been off for 10 years; what did I miss
New Year, new enthusiasm to play the flute better (also a bit more time in semi-retirement)
So from 2012 to 2022 what was the biggest change you noticed (pandemic excluded). PS I also play the whistle.

protective case for old wooden flute case?
I'm trying to find a protective case to put around the wooden case that holds my flute. I cycle with the flute in a bike pannier and in the event of an asphalt interaction I am much more worried about flute abrasions than skin abrasions The covers for modern flute cases don't fit. Without breaking t...
