SOLD: Copeland Low F brass

Selling my brass Copeland Low F. It sounds wonderful and has a lovely patina. It got a good going over by Michael Copeland in July 2019 and he declared it an excellent blower. There aren't many of these around and I can't recall seeing one come up for sale in many years. 1200 USD takes it home. Emai...

Re: Statement on status of Copelands.

Just letting you guys know that Mike is still at the mdcopeland@gmail.com email address and doing repairs if anyone needs. I have one of his low F whistles, it took a tumble and wound up with a dent on the front edge of the mouthpiece. Mike did the repair for less money then it would cost to take a ...

Re: FS Kerry Optima low E tunable

The price of a new Optima just went up to $139 (£89) so this is a better bargain than it was when I first posted it a few days ago.

FS Kerry Optima low E tunable

Thinning out my collection a bit. The low D is sold but the Optima is still available. The tunable Optima low E is $121 (£79) on the Kerry whistle site. I'm asking $100 including shipping in the US. The low D is $75 (£49). I'm asking $55 including shipping in the US. SOLD Both whistles come with the...

Re: Seeking opinions on an ethical conundrum

Or perhaps the issue was simply that said makers did not specifically state their design was based on someone else's. I think that's it. Arguably, I'm not sure that any whistle maker today is using a truly proprietary design. Every whistle is borrowing some design elements from other whistles (or o...

Re: Sterling silver Copeland on eBay

At that price, it's difficult not to wonder if this is going to become another one of those Copelands we will see being sold at a loss at some point in the future. I doubt it will be anytime soon. Anyone buying it isn't buying it just because they hope it's a good blower. That whistle is an investm...

Re: Help on SMELLY whistle.

Great book, great movie. One of those where, for my money, the book is vastly better than the film. I vaguely remember the film, but the book is absolutely unforgettable. A wonderful affirmation of what being human can be. I think they're both amazing although the movie does alter the ending of the...

Re: Hello all, new and had a few questions.

The song/tune I am talking about is http://youtu.be/iMs_WffLI2k I am looking for the opening part where he is actually playing the whistle. I don't want to discourage you, but that bit he's playing isn't easy. It's certainly not something a beginner is going to tackle with much success. Like any ot...

Re: Sterling silver Copeland on eBay

If anyone knows, are the newer Copelands any easier to blow in the upper registry? My D and C sound beautiful until I hit xxxooo in the second octave, at which point the notes become difficult to hold.

Re: Hello all, I'm new here and would love to get your advice!

Another suggestion would be to keep an eye out here and elsewhere for used whistles. Buying a used whistle gives you the chance to try out a maker's instruments. If you like them, you keep 'em; if you don't, you can sell them without losing much money ...sometimes you might even come out ahead.
