Re: Regulators-First Tunes?

One major problem, and perhaps this is demonstrated by tommykleen : if you tune the regulators to the chanter, or to the known pitches of the chanter , usually the chanter is tuned when both hands are engaged on it, using some 'standard' or piper prefered fingering. When playing the chanter single ...

Re: Regulators-First Tunes?

Another would be found here: https://irishpipertom.com/videos/ Our own Tommy Klein playing Seothín Seó.Bob Why doesn't this piper tune his instrument before making these, for the most part, out of tune regulators, video clips? I've looked at a few of them and find them extremely hard to listen to. ...

Re: Tuning help

I made a house call: Shawn needs a new reed. It's not him, not the set.

For your horrorsment (horror/amusement), here’s an homage to The Foxchase, featuring a more rustic, proletariat view of animal pursuit.

Re: Tuning help

There are quite a few pipers in the Twin Cities metro area. There's a fine piper (Jeremy Kingsbury) up near Grand Portage (I think) .
PM me for more deets.

Re: E note in regs: Choose your option

Another option is to extend the bass reg reed seat that will bring the low G down to E. Of course, it changes the pitches of the other notes on that reg. This only works with a wrap-around reg bar.

Re: lullaby

I’ve been playing Seothín Seó for some years. I scored it up and it’s in one of the An Piobaire issues from a few years ago. Sorry I’m not sure which one. Maybe a search on pipers.ie will produce something.

Re: Irish Pipers Club West Coast Tionól 2020

Nice fresh look for this venerable club!

I wouldn't be piping if it weren't for the Seattle club and this event. Plain and simple.

See you all there!

Re: Thin chanters from modern makers

There's at least one Coyne chanter that is quite narrow (in profile). I believe some (living) makers have made reproductions of that or similar.

Looks to be a two-drone set, with an outboard...tenor? And the key above the tenor reg C key must be for an E reg. Yes?

Re: pinhole in the side of my chanter

It almost looks like a chunk of the mount/chanter is missing. If so, I wonder if the hole is evidence of a bad pin-job repair(?)

What a terrific list of recordings! I'm filing that away!

I would add Leo Rickard "Pure Piping". A pipes-only high-wire (and without a net) act!
