Loren, you're a very intelligent guy and anyone who doesn't believe that is a fool, but something about your personality tends to be a bit overpowering.
Loren is a guy? Oh. Both his name and acerbic writing style made me think it was a gal. Sorry Loren.

Mike, Mack said it all. You are a gentleman. Also, I recently bought one of your brass soprano D whistles. It's the best I own. I hope to also buy a Hoover when Mack gets back into production.

I'd really love to meet Loren some day. What a gal! What character, eh?

This guy goes into the doctors office with a banana sticking out of his ear. He says: "Doctor, what the h*ll is wrong with me?". The doctor takes a look at him and says, "You're not eating properly".

Most Irish Jigs, Reels etc. need two octaves, so are not playable on GHP. Irish tunes that are playable on pipes are usually very simple stuff like Molly Malone.

Oops! Disagreement in the ranks. There is SOME breathiness to a Sweetone, but not as much as the Clarke Original. I'm not familiar with the Meg. It's funny how low-cost whistles can very. I bought a Feadog and got a lot of breathiness and squeeks from it. (It was in brass, not nickel). The other day...

If you don't like "breathy", I'd recommend a Burke brass whistle...in D obviously. I think it's called a Brass Pro or Brass Session. Try a store on line called "Son of the Sea". They might have one in stock. Cost is about $100. The sound is the least breathy that I know of, with ...

I have a whistle that is in tune with itself when the slide is jammed up all the way, but in this condition, everything is very sharp. When I pull the slide out enough to get a good lower octave D, the whistle is no longer playable. Based on this I have to assume that the principle explained above i...

I've met people like Mike Kelhorn before. His type is complicated and hard to deal with. Kinda like Dale Wisely turned inside out. (Dale is straighforward and fun to deal with). Their complicated minds make them hard to describe, except in a five volume set. It's best just to beat them up and pass o...

That earlier comparison to Generation was a bit unfair. There's absolutely no comparison quality wise. If you stacked up a Tony Dixon soprano D against a typical $100 product, I'll bet 99.9% of Irish music lovers wouldn't know which was the more expensive instrument. Could that be said of Generation...

I just started using the BBC session web site. Nice! I was already familiar with a lot of the pieces, but discovered that the good folks at the Beeb attached different metronome speeds to what I had been practicing. To the point...yes...the point...um...yes...how fast should I be going, yes, that's ...

A long time ago I lived in Dublin, which is a little to the east. I don't have a clue what this is about. Are you looking for music in the area? I'm off to Canada next week, and I found some good places to visit in Toronto by looking up the Internet.

I have a tunable Dixon D. When the lower octave D is in tune the upper octave is way sharp, no matter how softly I play. Everything I play sounds like Mozart's musical joke. I'll contact Tony.

Has anyone considered the possibility that Mr. Mike is not who he says he is? I have to admit, though that his message rang true, so personally I'm inclined to believe he really is from Susato. Could he have had a drink too many that evening?
