Hey Gordon, good to see you around. Hope all is well!
Ya, great flute, amazing that it took so long to be re-homed.

Re: Flute Weights Sticky
Here are the stats for some Delrin D flutes, in order from lightest to heaviest. Copley: Keyless D flute in Delrin with silver rings. 3 pieces. No tuning slide, tunable via long tenon. Unlined headjoint (obviously) 290 grams John Gallagher: Keyless D large hole Rudall model in Delrin. 5 pieces. Ring...

Re: Current 8 key delrin/polymer flute makers
Glenn Watson would also be worth asking. He was (at least at one point) offering 8 keys and his flutes are one of the more Wylde like I have played. He made a keyless Delrin flute for me some years back, so I know he has worked with the material. No idea if he has ever produced a keyed Delrin flute ...

Re: Current 8 key delrin/polymer flute makers
I think Vincenzo Di Mauro may still be doing them upon request. Seem to remember someone posting here about having one just a few years ago, and struggling with the usual Low C note challenges. Has anyone ever gotten an 8 Key from John Gallagher in Delrin? I have a vague sense that I may have heard ...

Re: approximate value of a Laughing Whistle?
sorry to be so long in checking back in after I started this thread. Yes, it's a brass telescoping whistle, high D. OK, hard to say exactly since they don’t come up for sale often, but they weren’t very expensive new, so I think $50-$100 would be an expected, and fair, range. That said, there often...

Loren said: I don’t think tenon covering makes much difference in weight between cork and thread, but I’ve never measured the raw materials required to lap a tenon. Probably not worth mentioning. Coincidentally, I was assembling a GLP keyless this afternoon, so I thought to make up for your slovenl...

Re: Flute Weights Sticky
Regarding format: While the (former) instrument maker in me likes things organized and formatted, I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary for the purpose of simply getting flute weights listed here. Certainly I wouldn’t want to put anyone off of contributing by specifying a cumbersome (perhaps to so...
