FS: Well made whistles, flutes, harmonicas and a recorder
Hi folks, One never expects extraordinary medical expenses. But I live in a country that claims to be the greatest in the world yet stands alone in it's obstinate refusal to insure adequate and affordable medical care to it's citizenry. I've got some big doctor's bills to pay. I have a short time li...

Re: A-432hz
Oh hell, this is fun! So I went to the doctor last week to get my knee checked out. He wanted to do a complete knee replacement two years ago but I wasn't ready for that so I lost weight, changed my diet, took some supplements and entered into a rigorous physical therapy regimen. He says I still don...

Re: Clogging
I can say with absolutely certainty that the toothpaste treatment works with aluminum instruments like the Overton design. I am not a wet player but my wonderful Goldie Low D would clog on occasion. After a toothpaste treatment the problem has never returned. I'm also an old recorder player who lear...

WTB: Hudson Winds whistle
Some of you know that one of my very favorite whistles is a conical brass high D by Hudson Winds. Peter made a really wonderful instrument and I wish he would make them again. My best friend fell in love with mine and I'd like to get one for him. If you have one to sell I'd love to hear from you - P...

Re: What do you think about ...
Hmmm. Very interesting questions. Irrespective of how I learned a tune/song, I'm playing by ear. I'm listening to the pace to see if it feels right. Often I find that the rhythm will manifest itself in some part of my body. I might sway to certain tunes or tap my foot or bob my head to others so I'm...

Re: The Best Whistle for a Certain Key
I'm absolutely certain that this is an impossible question to answer but with a few cheats here's my shot: High F - unplayable, my hands are just too big. Gen I suppose High E - unplayable, " " " " " " " . Gen I suppose High Eb - Sindt High D - Sindt brass head/sil...

Re: The Perfect Whistle
Mac, Thanks for this topic and particularly your first post. That may be the best topic opener I've seen on C&F. The perfect whistle had eluded me for years until I discovered, or more accurately I finally accepted, that it's all about "horses for courses." IMHO some whistles sound bet...

Re: Sweetheart Low D Rosewood, should I buy it?
This phraseology comes up from time to time and it's such a difficult question to answer. There are so many different qualifying factors here. What type of tone do you seek? Do you like a pure clean sound or do you want something more edgy, maybe dirty sounding or do you want a balanced, more trad-s...

Re: Killarney vs Hermit Hill Whistle
I'm right with Ted here. My experience with the Killarney is exactly as he described.
I have not tried Alex's new whistle yet but if it's anything like his wooden instruments it will be well superior to the Killarney.
Can't wait to try it.

Re: Interesting (?) - Killarney Whistles/Órlaith McAuliffe demo
I've got one of these whistles and can say I'd be surprised if anyone dislikes playing there's when they get it. I'm also friends with Orlaith on fb and ordered mine as soon as I watched the clip she posted a couple of months ago. I was on the look out for a new whistle anyway... I'm not any more. ...

Re: Wife posting for Denny - time to find new homes for flutes
Denny was a friend to all of us. I remember during my first few months on C&F it was often Denny who would send me a PM once in a while when he could tell I was struggling with a flute or whistle concept. I also owned Friesians once upon a time, then moved on to Holsteiners when I decided to rid...
