Re: Question about lip placement?
I came here to this thread from a related threat at The Session. Lots of great stuff here, and John Williams is easily a favorite of mine! Had no idea he played flute. I need to do some research now! Also, I too, have went from turning my head joint in toward me to more "in line" with the ...

Re: Off-Center Embouchure?
Hey JOBDC I will echo that you do the best that you can with however you get a good tone. That said, I will say this: I played an Ormiston for a few years and always had a hard time getting consistent tone. I always thought that it was just "me" and eventually I stepped away from IrTrad. 1...

Re: Flute workshops in the US
Hi. There is the excellent upcoming IrishFest Atlanta that is happening the 2nd weekend of Novemb4er. This will be my third year in a row attending. In addition to many workshops across a variety of instruments, there will also be concerts. Flute teachers will be the excellent Anna Friel and Joanie ...

Bartins Bay- new album by Brendan Mulholland
Last week I received my copy of Brendan Mulholland's latest album on CD, and it does not disappoint at all. I have enjoyed some lessons from Brendan as well as taken his excellent online flute school course a few times. This album is a flute-lover's piece to delve in deeply for ages. All of the qual...

NE Florida Session
The old session that was held in Jacksonville proper has migrated to Green Cove Springs at the Magnolia Point Pub. Approach the guard gate and advise the attendant that you are going to the pub and they will let you in. Once you arrive in the parking lot, walk around the left side of the building do...

Re: Copley Bb
I played one of the Bb flutes that Dave had at his shop last July (2023). It was the first Bb that I'd ever attempted to play and naturally was quite different from the D that I have, but manageable. I like it enough to order a C Body for my six key D from him. I'm not sure if Dave or his son Alan i...

Re: my favourite irland related movie
I enjoy The Quiet Man more for the raucous and comedic nature, but it does seem pretty over the top in ways that are not so endearing too. And then there's a few others I like that others may sigh over. I cannot tell you how many times I've watched "Waking Ned Devine". It's likely my all-t...

Re: Flute cleaning
You may want to see if the maker can accept it and clean it well for you for a nominal fee. Blayne Chastain of the IrishFluteStore has an excellent video on care for flutes but does not reach to the level of yuck you're describing. If you cannot determine the maker, or the maker has passed away, or ...

Re: Delrin flute suggestions for 2024?
I can say without any hesitation that Dave Copley makes excellent flutes. I've got a six key blackwood flute from him and I've tried a delrin Bb (the beast it is).

Hi, and thanks for your reply!
When I click on Preferences/Email all tunes, it does nothing. I will try again a bit later in case there is a server error on their part.
Cheers,
ET
