Re: Flute cleaning

You may want to see if the maker can accept it and clean it well for you for a nominal fee. Blayne Chastain of the IrishFluteStore has an excellent video on care for flutes but does not reach to the level of yuck you're describing. If you cannot determine the maker, or the maker has passed away, or ...

Re: Delrin flute suggestions for 2024?

I can say without any hesitation that Dave Copley makes excellent flutes. I've got a six key blackwood flute from him and I've tried a delrin Bb (the beast it is).

Re: Best way to share Tunepal list

Hi, and thanks for your reply!

When I click on Preferences/Email all tunes, it does nothing. I will try again a bit later in case there is a server error on their part.

Cheers,

Re: Does an easy-to-play flute lead to a lazy or poorly developed embouchure?

It's certainly a great question. I agree with Eric and flutern because as someone who's had a harder flute to play, I can say that the easier one has made me such a better flute player that my confidence has gone through the roof, and it helps me to know that "I can do this!" and I do not ...

Re: Amateur Maker - Progress?

I'm so glad that I poked my head in here and saw your very recent update. That is stellar looking work. The draw to purchase a lathe is becoming stronger...

Ormiston R&R style blackwood for sale

Up for sale- An Ormiston R&R style 3-piece keyless flute with short D foot. George says that he built this African Blackwood flute in April of 2002. It was purchased by myself in 2003 and has been the gateway to my learning to play Irish traditional music on the flute. It’s in great condition an...

Re: Amateur Maker - Progress?

Yes, this is quite exciting. I have a small CNC router that I used for several years to make items out of acrylic sheet and would occasionally mill some wood parts, but that always led me to want to get a lathe. This puts fuel on the fire :-) Your work thus far has been fantastic looking. Thanks for...

Heading to Ashville via Greenville- Octave Mandos?

Hi I'm heading up to Ashville, NC via Greenville, SC (coming from South Georgia up via Augusta) and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a place to stop and try out an Octave Mandolin or Bouzouki. I am a guitar player interested in either of these and know there's lots of places in Asheville, b...

Re: Is Francois Baubet still working?

I also have an order in with him. One thing he says is that flute making is indeed a side venture and he has family and work ahead of the making, so I certainly understand that and appreciate that he charges nothing until he's able to deliver the flute. I'm looking forward to mine!
