Re: Killarney Brass D whistle

My favourite whistle for sessions, pretty well in tune and loud enough to be heard plus a good rounded tone. To clean I dip the head into warm water and take it off the body then put it back in the warm water (to soak for a bit) with a small amount of washing up liquid. I use a bit of old credit car...

Re: Introduction from a new forum member

Hi Peter, If you are serious about playing the whistle or the fiddle you would do well to find a session nearby where you can listen to the music and ask advice from any decent whistle or fiddle players there. Re: Frankie Gavin - whistle reels 1975

Very nice but where's the bouzouki? I could only hear bodhran. Or is this just an isolated track without Alec Finn?

Re: Where are your ‘car whistles’

If someone rear-ends you and the airbag goes off, your whistle may end up somewhere unpleasant.
Lets not beat around the bush, It would probably end up sticking out of the back of your head! You wouldn't be practicing much after that!

Looking for Tony Higgins

As the title suggests. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated. I have obviously tried the usual ways.

Re: New to the world of the tin whistle

A variation on the above: "Holding the whistle as you normally would, rest the mouthpiece just under your lower lip, blowing into the "exit ramp". Joannie Madden on 'Song of the Irish Whistle' uses this technique on the beginning of the track below, very effective! I use it frequentl...
