Re: Tuning Walsh A2000 Smallpipe drones
Thanks CT! One other question about tuning. When I check my my chanter's low A it shows A on my handy electric tuner. Is this correct? I thought I heard or read that the low A is on the A2000's chanter should actually be D. I really love the Walsh pipes. They are so elegant and well made yet afforda...

Re: Opening 9-11 Memorial Song - What is its name?
I believe the piece the NYFD Emerald Society Pipe and Drum Band played on 9/11/2010 was Shane O'Neil's March. It's lovely. They did a great job playing it to. It took me a while but I figured it out.

Re: Tuning Walsh A2000 Smallpipe drones
Hi CT, Thanks for your suggestions. I'll study them and let you know how they work for me. I have made some progress tuning my drones. But I still have a little ways to go.

Tuning Walsh A2000 Smallpipe drones
I'm a lowland piper with highland hopes. I recently fell into a wonderful set of Walsh A2000 Mouth blown small pipes. Other than a couple of introductory lessons I have taught myself the practice chanter. Now that I have pipes I need to tune the drones. Are there any good reference website that expl...

Opening 9-11 Memorial Song - What is its name?
Would someone be able to tell me the name of the opening piece that the bagpipes played at the 9-11 (2010) memorial service in New York City? I really love the piece after hearing it and would love to learn to play it.
Thanks, Tin

Re: New head for Howard Low Whistle
I purchased my Howard Low D in 2009. I have trouble hitting the 2nd octave A and B also. It might have been sitting around the seller's business for a long time. Is there any way to tell whether the head is the new or old design definitively?

Re: Key of first smallpipes
Highland-piper,
The chanter is named an A chanter yet plays in the key of D? I'm puzzled why they call it an A chanter?

Thanks for you help. The A sounds good. I want to be able to play with others in the future in sessions.

Key of first smallpipes
I'm considering purchasing some smallpipes some time up the road. What is the best key to buy for your first pipes? I see that mostly A, D, or Bflat are available. Thanks.

Re: Fife
I have played the flfe in a rather novice fashion for the last couple of years. I was told by the author of the tutorial I use that one needs to spit into the blowhole. One I started doing that my playing improve quite a bit. You have to practice playing each note and holding it for a long time. The...
