The eight-keyed Satiné flute also visible in his gallery should be my new flute. :) Piffle on you too. Satine 8 key I believe is what I'm going to get, assuming I can handle the finger holes. (It's less than a Pratten, so I should be able to, but we'll see). ::ahem:: JUST WAITING ON TOMMY...::ahem:...

Correct - just adding keywork to an extant instrument. I just saw the pics on Maurice's site. Gorgeous flute! I love the cabachon that you had put on the end piece. Hopefully it will get there in time. I've considered putting some accents on the M&E I play out at Ren Faires, got a nice price on...

http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/1815 The Coolin, or An Cuilfhoinn is the one flatley plays as a solo. (Or at least his adaptation of it...) I'd be interested if anyone knows the tunes that he and Molloy played as a duet on the late late show (There's a clip of it on the Flatley "Gold&qu...

I don't know if it'll have value in the long run, but I've found it surprising that sometimes what sounds SO VERY DIFFERENT while playing is barely discernible on playback.<sigh> Why is this?!! I did the same thing recently, playing as sweetly as I could then as hard and raspy, sounded OK when play...

Re: Making a good tone

I’ve been playing the flute for about twenty years now. It’s only in the past few years that my embouchure has given me the clear, ringing tone that I want, and only because I’ve been able to play every day. See, now this is the absolute key piece of advice here, no matter what anyone else may writ...

Tommy-

Dropped you a note via email, if you didn't get it, check your spam filter. It's coming from a gmail account.

Casey-

When I get the loaner flute, I'll give you my (albeit newish) opinion after I've played it a bit as well. His flutes look stupendous, can't wait to try it out.
