Nice case, jack!

You don't have problems with the flutes toppling out when you open the case? Or do you have it laying flat, as opposed to mounted on the wall?

If everyone only did things for a need, there would be a lot of inventions missing. I was just curious if anyone has ever tried it out.

Fajardo wedge question

I was reading the fajardo thread, and I wondered...

Anyone made a similar wedge to the tipple and used it in a wooden, conical bore flute?

Wouldn't be that hard to whip up...

Re: The Tipple-Fajardo Wedge

http://dougsflutes.googlepages.com/thetipple-fajardowedge Has anyone used this device? and if so,what did you think? Is it more effective than a Sanders Spike?(an intrusive conical spike used as a headjoint plug). These devices are supposed to compensate for acoustic faults in headjoint designs, bu...

Heh. I thought the same thing. I think she means the cork on the tenon.

Re: flute information

I have a wooden flute that I've had for years. I've just recently gotten into playing it but I would like to know more about it. The name stamped on it is Martin Fres. It has a bee or a fly symbol stamped on it too. It has 6 holes and 6 keys with a metel tuning slide in the head joint. It is a D sc...

The Italian word piccolo translates as "small". It is an adjective, not a noun; you can't actually have a "small". (Almost - the English used to refer to their underwear as "smalls".) That was short form for the original wording, "small pants", which was even...

Re: Opinion on best Irish flute

Wondering what members opinions are on which is the best Irish Flute and why. Thanks for sharing. Slainte It's going to be highly individualistic, and a lot has to do with what fits you, and what you're looking for in sound. Quieter flute, sharper ornamentation, booming sound, blackwood vs. boxwood...

Jay-

I think it's easier for the !#$!@##% fiddlers because for the up/down notes in the B part, all they do is tilt the bow over a little.

If you want sneaky revenge, sit to the left of the main fiddle player, and when his bow comes at you, subtly nudge it with the flute. :D

Re: Anyone have an Inexpensive Boehm Flute for sale/trade/le

I need a modern flute for a little while - long story, I won't bore folks with the details - and thought I'd check here before checking ebay, craigslist, etc, as I'd prefer to deal with someone I know and can trust with regards to playing condition, etc. I'm on a wicked tight budget, as we say here...

Since I had a couple inquiries, the D flute has offset holes, not the inline holes.
