Re: Piping Highlights: Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy 1993-20

Piping highlights from Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy 1993-2019. Interesting to hear the pipers different styles of piping here and the variety of tones of the different sets of pipes played. The highlight for me was the piping of Sean McKiernan. The oldest piper playing in this selection, but with ...

Re: cover pictures in An Piobaire

I don't think anybody at N.P.U. cares much for what happens outside of Dublin, so those people you mention might as well live on another planet. They do hold a lot of events in Dublin, but their premises are there and they're at least partly funded by Dublin City Council, so I'd have expected it up...

Re: FT Ghb for Uilleann half set

There's nothing quite like the Uilleann pipes for expressiveness and I would be the last person to try to disuade you from attempting the transition. I tried to do the same but, after several years, I gave up and went back to the GHB. I found it easy to play simple tunes on the Uilleann pipes but w...

Re: Waterford pipe-makers in 1990s?

Actually, Brian was gone from Kilmacow at that stage, but a photo should clear that up, I think he posts here. I cannot think of anyone in Waterford county making back then. I had a full set made from Brian back in 1977/78 at that time from Kilmacow near Waterford in Ireland. Now the famely is back...
