In case of outages

Hi folks! We have had some Board outages in the recent past. We have managed to enlist help in order to stabilise it, and it seems fine for now. However, in case it does go down, and in order to have one place for updates on progress in that case, please bookmark - or add to favourites - this page .

Re: Time for a refresh

Amazingly, the re-indexing process has just finished. At the rate it was progressing earlier today, I calculated that it would take approximately 20 hours. It's actually taken just under 6 hours, which is exceptionally good going! :) Anybody wanting to use the Search facility - please now feel free ...

Time for a refresh

Hi Folks Every now and then, certain Board functions stop working. This is usually - but not always - because it needs to be re-indexed from time to time. That is a painful process for me, as it takes some days. However, the time has come. During the re-indexing process, I will need to do various th...

Re: Board Issues

We are aiming for a resolution in whatever way we have to come to it. The main issues are two: lag time when initiating functions (I...

"China... [has] approximately 355 ships and submarines in its navy, making it the world's largest by size." https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/japan-defence-spending-1.6954658 There's another way to be the largest besides being the biggest? Now where have I heard something like that before? So...

Re: The Introduction of Irish Whistle Tuning Slides?

You are making a lot of assumptions there. I don't think there were any metal whistles before the mid 19th century. I have yet to see any tuning slides in older whistles : the first tuneable whistles were the Generations when they adopted the plastic heads in the early 1950s. Proper slides weren't ...
