Re: Pictures of Your Pipes

Hi Just showing off my new for me pipes. This set is a 2008 Cocobollo MacLellan, antique design (but modern bores), with Intertwined Heron's engraved silver ferrules, ring caps and mouthpiece tube. Mounts are satin wood which is very nice. Cocobollo is dark red in colour and has a beautiful grain, q...

Re: heart surgery and UP piping

I had a five artery bypass this time last year.. Was not able to play Irish pipes for 4 months.. Scot pipes about 6 months..

Don't lift anything heavy.. And good luck and get well..

Uillean Pipe bag.. Which one is best?

Hi Looking into getting a new bag on my full Childress set.. It has an L&M bag now.. I do have a gortex bag, the one with the grommets for the stocks, on my GHB and wondering if there is similar for Uilleann pipes..? Has anyone had any experience with other than leather bag? How did it work out ...

Re: Chanter maintenance

Speaking of lube.. Is there anything one is suppose to do to keep the key hinges working freely. I would think grime and dirt would get in between the block and pins etc. Little drop of oil maybe. Or nothing.

Re: Bellows pin hole leak near hinge

Well I asked in 'the first place' due to the fact I don't have a clue about leather.. So I figured that there would be scholarly folks on here that know about working leather.. Was not sure whether to fix on outside or inside. Inside would be a job.. Your right Uillium about the killing a bodhran th...

Bellows pin hole leak near hinge

Hi me again !! My bellows have developed a leak on the side of them down by the hinge right on the fold of the leather. Its not cracked looks like a spot that has some wear. Is there anything that would possibly plug it up.. Re-seasoning ? Crazy Glue? Duct Tape? or new bellows? I ask as I just don't...

Gave two tenons a good cleaning then a little lick sanded off the cork and then used lip balm as suggested.. They be working tickety boo now and slide as smooth as a babies rear end.. When not dirty t...

Drones - Cork or Thread

Hi I have a set of pipes and they use cork in the drones. But I find them very stiff to move the drones when tuning.. Is there a difference in the performance of cork or thread.. I been thinking of changing them to thread or hemp. So they can work similar to my McCallum GHB drones. Any thoughts on t...
