Wow.

What more can one say after this weekend?

As some of you may know, Alan Burton was not able to make it out to the states for this summer's gathering in Salt Lake, so we made a few quick calls and convinced David Power that he needed to come out and meet the lot of us. He did. He'll regret it for the rest of his life! :)

Seriously, had a spectacular time, David's as great a guy as you could hope to meet piping aside - but of course, his piping is positively brilliant as any of you who have seen and met him will no doubt attest to. Sunday night's concert was some of the best playing I've ever seen, or been privileged to be a part of. Absolutely amazing stuff.

We're all off to lick our wounds now, and soothe our aching heads after what feels like a non stop three days. We might have done it a bit much with the drink as well....or perhaps it wasn't quite enough. We'll have photos and video up soon on the website so be sure to check back often.

Thanks again David!!!

Bri~

SLPC scores!

Well done! You could not have landed a bigger and better fish. David left us (GNIPC) with an embarassment of riches. You too by the sounds of it.

Awww, I missed my new crush and a visit to my hometown all in one go.

David Power:

Excellent teacher, he motivated my unmotivated son even if just for a few days.

Superior artist, DP live is an experience.

Very tasty, he has a very attractive aaaccent and his eyes are to die for and his regulaters are dreamy.

Hmm, sounds like a very sexist slant there, Baglady. Should I complain to the moderator?

PS I agree with Martin Carthy, except that drop-D can be handy.

I'm just returning the universe to balance after the Kathryn Tickell thread.

Move along now, there’s nothing to see here.

David was my piping teacher when I was still living out East. I miss him He's a great guy.

If the pipers in the Rocky Mountain area get a tionol together this year, David's getting dragged to Denver whether he wants to or not.

Can we discuss for a moment how this makes me feel?

Let's be for real now...

He's a young piper...and will one day, perhaps, be a "great" piper, but he ain't there yet. Worth checking out, is how I'd classify.

I didn't see that anyone had classified him as a "great" piper.
So I will. He is an awesome teacher, a wonderful guy, and a GREAT piper.
On second thought, I don't think he's a great piper........he is an incredibly talented, amazing, walks on water piper (he's pretty good singer too). :o :o :o My only regret about the whole weekend is that it wasn't an entire week. Those of you that live in close proximity to David are just lucky. I completely enjoyed every piece that he played!
Thanks David

John

I'll second that opinion of David's piping... in a word... inspired. Patrick (Padre') D'Arcy is a mighty piper as well... but that other fella, from Dublin via St. Louis.... awwwwww, who am I kidding, Tommy Martin rocks too! :D

It's gonna take us some time it seems to compile reports, and incrimination photo/video evidence from the weekend as apparently there are hours and hours of it all to go through and edit for uploading. Bear with us, and we'll get some up in the not too distant future!

All the best,

Brian~
