I am a teacher who makes whistles as a hobby. I make them in five different keys and they are tunable. I use aluminum or lucite for fipples. Since March, I have sold over 2 dozen on eBay and have had some very positive reports back. Email me at davidpeterobrien@yahoo.com if you would like more information or pictures.

Have you thought of sending one to Dale for a review?

I just sent Dale a message about a review of one of my whistles.

Sending one to Dale for a review is a good idea (even better idea...see if you can get several people to review them). It's also a really good idea to make a webpage, if you want to sell these to people over the internet. There are exceptions, but most people want, at least, to see what the whistle looks like and maybe hear a sound clip or two before they buy...and a lot of people are reluctant to email someone unless they have a pretty good idea already that they might want to buy from him.

Would these perchance be the angled head whistles I've come across on Ebay?

I really like the sound of copper. It seems a bit warmer than brass to me. Good luck with your endeavors.

Then again, redwolf, these whistles ARE going for C $10 at the moment. It's not like we're talking $100+.

I think chancing a buy might be an idea, and if I do buy one, I will of course supply sounds clips and a review.

Then again, it IS nevertheless a good idea to send Dale a test whistle, since a review from him does have an authority which one from me .. well, won't (total whistle playing time = 4 months *g).

I mean, I can compare it with three others. Dale probably with 3 hundred others.

OK, now back to watching my eBay 'Sie beobachten die folgenden Artikel'...

Yes, those are my whistles on eBay and C$10 is my starting price. I have a reserve price. Usually, they go for around C$50 or 60, including shipping. Some have told me that that is still quite a bargain. I will be sending Dale a whistle to review tomorrow.

I'd be happy to sent anyone who wants it a picture and more info. Email me at davidpeterobrien@yahoo.com

The reason i suggested Dale is because this gives you a chance of getting a spot in the C&F whistle review pages. Since you don't seem to have a Web page, this could be a way for you to get some visibility. If the whistles are good, Dale should give a good review. Of course there's risk involved. :D

It's almost enough to give me an attack of WhOA!

Hi-- and welcome to Chiff and Fipple. Be sure to check out the commercial postings message at the top of the board. Dale and gang are really good to us whistlemakers, and we shouldn't rile them with commercial postings. So far, you're fine, but do read the message. Paul
