Ahh yes, well... to make a short story long (TMI coming!) I recently had a family member pass who was born in North Ireland and so at the service we played some Irish tunes for him and it just hit me how much I loved the music. I don't know a great deal about my heritage (Both sides of my family came to Canada from Ireland in the 1920's and for whatever reason, lost touch with the folk back home... I'm sure the folk back home are happy tho!) So being musically inclined I decided to follow my heart and learn to play some Irish music . A few lines of sugar and some investigating led me to this site (I believe I googled "how not to suck at playing the tinwhistle" and C&F came up)
Now, I do feel bad as this is my pre-whistle post (Ah, I recall those pre-whistle days like it was just a few days ago...) and I should really post a post-whistle post but I'm still more comfortable hanging out in the test zone before heading out into the main forum areas (Binkie says I'll do fine, but I'm still a bit gun shy)
Now, time to suck up a bit more... this site is GREAT and I'm glad to have found it while wasting time during work hours...
Now I'm off to discover some whistle players to get some inspiration from (With Binkie, we're cool like that)
