My first post! (Pre-whistle!)

Post by WhistleWhileyouWork »

Hello folks!

I am Jay and at this posting, am the newest member of the chiffandfipple forum! (Look how shiny I am!) :D (I also have a problem with smilies)

I also have another problem... I am committed to another forum (Gasp!)

A SAXOPHONE forum (Double Gasp!)

I love the saxophone and am relatively new at it (I just became comfortable spelling "saxophone") and don't want to give it up but I have this calling to play the whistle (and perhaps the flute) and found this forum and created a stupid name so I could join!

WhistleWhileyouWork - C'mon! NO ONE thought of this!? I should be banned immediately for such a name... (Moderator, please be kind)

What I've noticed about this forum already... It's FUN! Seriously, I've been laughing for the past 2 hours, and at least 4 minutes of that was on this forum!

Ok, this should be enough damage to my reputation already... I'm looking forward to picking up a whistle and making my first post (This is my pre-whistle post, next will be my post-whistle post)

Chiff & Fipple only asks that you not whistle while you drive. Thank you.

Uh....then there's this thing about too much information.

yes, TMI

While many here have know saxophones
they are careful to keep it to themselves.

Flute is okay as long as it is pre Boehm & post Baroque
or yer name is Joanie....

Don't mess with Joanie. :really:

Sax and clarinet do seem to be fairly
common gateway instruments for many
whistlers.

Guys. You're killin' me, here. The TMI wasn't the sax forum.

I wanted to vote for "I hate polls..." but I hate cats more. The best choice I had was "He sells me things...." I know I have to buy something on a somewhat regular basis that has a picture of some type of Jay on it.

FYI. This is a tough crowd when it comes to polls. Just sayin.

Also. You didn't capitalize the "Y" in the middle of your nic and it comes off reading as Whistley ou. If you're going to stick around for awhile, you should see if a moderator can fix that for you. I know this would make ME feel better and that's really what matters.

I thought people around here often played ITM? What is this TMI stuff, sounds like something from MIT, probably involving someone named TIM.

I apologize for the late reply to all your wonderful responses. I'm afraid the gig is up, and my extra-forumital affairs have now been exposed and I am currently going through a nasty divorce from my Saxophone forum.

It wants the kids.

Before joining this forum, I did not know what the acronym TMI reffered to... now, I am all too painfully aware.

p.s' I am currently in the preliminary design phase of "I love Jay, but I hate cats and polls" T-Shirts and license plate frames.

Oh, and I'm getting a whistle today!

OK, I have exciting news!

 I have a whistle! I have a whistle!

It's a "Guiness" tinwhistle (I believe it is a Walton? I know NOTHING about various makes yet) my friend bought a couple of years ago from an Irish gift shop and gave to me yesterday after I was caught at work looking at the Chiff and fipple forums. My friend said, "watcha lookin at?" I said "tinwhistles" he said "I have one of those somewhere". I said "I'll give you $500 for it!" but he said I could have it for free! (I love my friend, besides, we both know I don't have $500)

His wife called me that night to thank me for saving their marriage.

And I played around with it and had a blast!!

Of course, I'm still fighting off the syndrome the saxophone community calls G.A.S. (Gear Aquisition Syndrome) So I'm very glad that no one makes custom mouthpieces for whistles at $300 a pop... I'm sure this syndrome is not only limited to saxophones but I am very happy that if I do find myself looking at higher end whistles, they are still MUCH more affordable than saxophone peripherals.

For the time being, I shall play this whistle and have fun! Thank you for putting up with my first post (Pre-whistle!) and for putting up with me and my polls! (I assure you, there shall never be another poll from me! ;)

Love, WWyW

If you could refrain from eating all the sugar in the sugar bowl before answering, I would like to know how you came to be reading chiff & fipple at work.
