Jerry Freeman Whistles

Post by chrisp »

Hi,

After reading Guidus's last thread about Dixon whistles on steroids, and MT's answer about Jerry Freeman's Mellow Dog.

I've been playing mediocre whistle for some years now, and have had played many whistles. Perhaps my most reached for whistle is the whistle made after Guidus's design ( thank you ) They are sweet and really take some beating. My Oz whistle personally made for me by Mitch Smith is a gem and will never be sold!!
However, the last few months i've been playing my old feadog, which is quite strange because 2 years ago i hated it.
I guess my playing ability has improved and i'm able to control this beast, i really like playing it. Two years ago i would have given it up as a dud.
I don't own a Dixon, but have tried them on my trips to England, they are sweet easy blowers, and remind me of the whistles i've made after guidus's design.( lovely sound )

How would one go about purchasing Jerry freemans Mellow dog, it sounds like a whistle I'd like to own? ( thanks MT )
There's favourite whistles for certain tunes, and i'd like to buy one of these.

Does Jerry have a web site ?

Thanks Chris

Hahahaha! After looking at Jerry's avatar for a couple of years now, it finally clicked in my brain that it's a mouse in front of an ear of corn.
I've always thought it was a whale like a Sperm Whale surfacing under a yellow sunset... A sudden cognitive shift for sure.
Got wood?

Hi, Chris.

I don't have a website, but I'll be happy to send you a Mellow Dog.

They're US$36.50 plus $4.95 postage anywhere in the world. I can provide an extra, C tonebody for $5.00 additional to make a Mellow Dog D/C set (these are popular). PayPal is fine, if that works for you. For my PayPal email ID, use:

jerry
the symbol for "at"
tcenet
the symbol for dot
net

Please include a message reminding me what it's for.

Best wishes,
Jerry

Damn! - I always thought it was a hat .. on a pond .

There's no doubt Jerry makes a brilliant whistle! I have a couple in my swag.

Personally, I have a certain fondness of stock Feadogs - they tweak-up nicely. I like the colored ones .. for some reason the paint seems to make a difference, Although the most-used one in my bag at the moment is a plain brass one. Dunno what it is, but every green one I fixed up got "claimed" by friends.

Feadogs make you work a little to get the best out of them - I think that's a good thing. Getting one from Jerry takes some of the labor out of it!
All the best!

Chris - I'll also recommend that you spend the extra $5.00 and get the additional C body.

I know it wasn't what you asked, but those two statements could be linked. It's been said many times, but find a whistle and stick with it and after months of practicing (I wrote "soon" but then deleted it) you'll be mediocre no longer.

If you've already input your credit card or
bank account info, you just need to send
money. For example, to send money to
Jerry Freeman:

Click the "Send Money" tab.
Type Jerry's email address into the "To" field.
Type the amount in the "Amount" field.
Make sure to select USD from the drop-down box next to Amount.
Select the "Goods" under "Purchase".
Click the "Continue" button.

If everything is correct, a new screen appears.
Under "Payment Method", select the credit card you want to use (there's probably just the one).
Make sure the shipping address is correct, so you'll get your stuff.
At the bottom is a place to type in a message that will be sent to Jerry's email.
In that box, type in something like "Here's payment for a Mellow Dog whistle" so he knows what to send you.
Click the "Send Money" button.

That's all there is to it.

I always thought it was a wobbled weeble in front of a glowing space heater.

Jerry's tweaked Sweetone was my first, and his tweaked Gen was my second. He's a good man, he is.
Daniel

It's my opinion - highly regarded (and sometimes not) by me. Peace y'all.

Until this morning I thought it was a military officer or policeman's hat at lakeside at sunrise. And I liked it that way....

Then there's the guy with the pic that's really an emu, but looks like a funny smiley creature if you swap the nostrils for eyes...
