STOLEN PIPES: Preshaw Half Set in San Diego

Post by Patrick D'Arcy »

Hi Everyone,

Please keep an eye open for Tim Foley's Martin Preshaw half set which was stolen from his car last night in La Jolla, just north of San Diego. I'll post photos as soon as I get them.

Thanks,

Pat.

Grrr.

I will certainly keep an eye out for these, and pass the word to the local folks.

This is the same set that Tim played in the 2003 Peter Weir/Russell Crowe/Patrick O'Brien "Aubry/Maturin" movie Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.

A couple of snaps:

Tim has provided the following description:
Tim Foley wrote:It was a set of pipes made from Blackwood with brass fittings and boxwood mounts.
The Chanter is blackwood with brass fittings and two keys (C natural and F Natural)
The bag is black leather, I had removed the standard green velvet covering.
There were no major distinctive markings other than a very small Preshaw mark on the chanter.

the case was kind of beat up, but was a black hard shell flight case.

Along with the pipes was a brass Michael Burke tunable tin whistle in D and a silver nonunable Chieftan low whistle in D
