...and weirdness was. Denny, old bean, old sock, old turnip, you seem to have this well sussed. I used this Picasa Web thing for the first time here yesterday and it buggered up my links. Before I just give up and go back to using ImageCave, which has worked flawlessly for me for a couple of years, I'd like to understand this better. Could you 'splain some things, please?
First: Any idea why it is that I can see all the images in this thread when I am logged out, but none of them when I'm logged in? (FF 1.5.0.7)... and...
If I use "copy image location" from my own Picasa web album, I get this code:
I cannot see this image now, because I'm logged in. (See first question above). So I don't know if I will be able to see it after I log out, but when I used this method in the Halloween pet photos thread yesterday, no one else could see it either.
Now: When I use Picasa's own linking utility, copy and paste it (removing the link to album), I get this code, instead:
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/p.courcy/Ya ... 6098"><img src="http://lh5.google.com/p.courcy/RT0Yqj6B ... G.JPG"></a>
This may, or may not, display. But if it does (I tested it earlier), it displays as a thumbnail size, not the image's true size (512 px). I thought the extra "jpg" code at the end made it into a thumbnail, but if I delete that:
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/p.courcy/Ya ... 6098"><img src="http://lh5.google.com/p.courcy/RT0Yqj6B ... 5.JPG"></a>
It. Still. Doesn't. Work. I notice that the first link I pasted from Picasa Web by using "copy image location" did include the "imgmax" tag. I looked at the code for the pic you snagged and posted, and saw you had included an "imgmax" tag too... but I don't get that automatically unless I use "copy image location". Does one have to add that manually each time in order to get the proper size for these Picasa embed links?
IOW, what the heck am I doing wrong? TIA.

or I just got lucky...I was unable to duplicate it with another of Dubh's pictures!
the <a href="..."> is the page you get if you click
the <img src="..."> is the image
the </a> is the close for the first (<a ) thingy
"copy image location": the ?imgmax=512 at the end needs to be removed, you will get the full sized image then
I took the tags and cut and pasted the URL into the href
I right clicked the image and viewed the image, I cut and pasted the URL into the src

Now if I can just get the size worked out...
Lot of hassle this way, in spite of Picasas claims..

you could try this...
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/dublindave/ ... 7314"><img src="http://lh4.google.com/dublindave/RTJiLi ... th=432></a>
I got the heigth & width from the properties on the linked page's picture...

Back to ImageCave....looks like Picasa is fine for storage but useless for linking to.
