Lord Ganesh playing the Uilleann pipes
I've heard repeated rumours that somewhere in Ireland, some wonderful crazy person made a statue of Lord Ganesh ( the Hindu God with the Elephant's head, son of Lord Shiva) playing Uilleann pipes. Does any body out there have photos or a link this delightful outburst of insanity???
Many Thanks all,

I think the one I found was the same statue "under construction".

Why do you curse something that is so useful?
Perhaps because, useful as they are computers still seem rather sterile to me. And as Kurt Vonnegut put it "... the internet is proof that a million monkeys writing on a million typewriters still can't come with Shakespeare..." I became very computer literate in a hurry while doing foster care for at risk teens.
And yet Shri Ganesh Ji has much to recommend to himself. He is the remover of obstalces, which should make him a deity of interest to all by the most monotheistic of pipers. He is the lord of Fortune, wisdom and by all accounts a great dancer.
Moreover, no offence but something about Kate Bush gives me the creepys, I know not why, she certainly is very talented.

A friend of mine has a photo of Kate Bush playing (really just pretending to play) the uilleann pipes, but that's one I've never seen on the internet -- Google searches just turn up mentions of Liam O'Flynn playing on her albums. It's quite the photo; she's a bit more attractive than Lord Ganesh.

I like the statue, a lot. The Uileann pipes must be the non-indian instrument closest in spirit to an instrument like the sitar--it has reeds instead of strings, but the drones, the complexity and well, profoud ridiculousness of it is very very similar.
I'd love to see someone like Tala take up the pipes and 'idianise' them the way that others have transformed the violin and slide guitar into idian instruments.

And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')
