I have the pleasure to announce that, after many years of slow gestation, the sequel to the original Wellsprings CD is available. It's called Wellsprings 2: Joyful and features the same style of piano and flute as the first CD. You can read about the details and even listen to sound clips by clicking on the picture above. This time we used all original melodies, and the recording and mixing were 100% digital. Grey Larsen did the mastering (he squeezed us in right before Wooden Flute Obsession #3). I'm very happy with the sound quality and the music selection.

I played my metal flute with wooden head by Mark Hoza on all tracks for that extra woody sound that we all love. Jack did a wonderful job on the piano, as always.

Nice playing Glauber. Good idea. The mix sounds a bit strange to me at times, but that is probably an arfifact of the compression used for the web streaming. How much is improvised? Interesting 'woody" sound from the Hoza head.

it's mostly improvised, in the sense that there was no written music. We worked on the songs for over a year, so we knew what we were playing, but still no two takes were exactly the same. We started with the chord progressions (and he themes, for Greensleeves and Joyful) and composed the rest through improvisation. I like to think of the process as a conversation, because both musicians are in equal footing. I think we took this process further than in the first album.

I think the people who liked the first CD will really enjoy this one. It's amazing how much has changed in 10 years, and we really got a much better sound with this one, using digital equipment. The church where we recorded it has wonderfully warm acoustics. I'm glad we were able to record this, as i don't know if there will be another one. Life is way too complicated right now for both of us.

Glauber, which flute or flutes did you use in the recording of your CD? It's great to see you using your flute and music for praise. I'm intrigued by the C.S. Lewis inspiration on the one track. I think I'll have to order a copy!
