But why the accordion?

We have some evidence, however, that you may have to pay for the reeds.

But why the accordion?

Post by Mr.Nate »

My wife still can't figure out why I like the accordion. (neither can I)

Nine years ago when I met her I played the guitar and sang her a song.
She soon fell in love with me and we got married. Now she is dissapointed that I don't sit around with my guitar and sing her love songs. I wonder if she would have married me with an accordion in my hand?

She said " you can't sing with a whistle in your mouth!" Now that I have an accordion my whistle playing is not so bad.

She asked me the other day..."but why the accordion??????" I can't explain it.
I have a button and bellows fixation. I love to sit down and run my fingers over the buttons and squeeze the bellows producing somthing soothing to my soul...I can't explain it!!

Because it's the instrument of passion! Seriously, singing love songs with a guitar, you're at the sitting-politely-at-opposite-ends-of-the-sofa-stealing-glances-at-each-other stage. The accordion is about getting it ON.

Mama's got a squeeze box
She wears on her chest
And when Daddy comes home
He never gets no rest

'Cause she's playing all night
And the music's all right
Mama's got a squeeze box
Daddy never sleeps at night

Well the kids don't eat
And the dog can't sleep
There's no escape from the music
In the whole damn street

'Cause she's playing all night...

She goes in and out and in and out and in and out and in and out

She's playing all night...

She goes, squeeze me, come on and squeeze me
Come on and tease me like you do
I'm so in love with you
Mama's got a squeeze box
Daddy never sleeps at night

She goes in and out and in and out and in and out and in and out

'Cause she's playing all night...

God have mercy, that is about the most righteous thing I've ever read.
