Fellow pipers,
Right now I carry and store my practice set in a gym bag. This does the job quite nicely, however does not offer much room or real protection. Soon I hope to expand to drones and will need a better carrying method. I have heard of guitar "gig" bags being used, but does anyone out there have any good ideas on carrying cases made of wood or plastic or even metal, and what are the dimensions of the case?

Slainte!

A durable hard case is absolutely necessary for the pipes. You can make one yourself out of wood quite easily. I got my case from my local pipemaker Andreas Rogge. You can look up the cases he sells at http://www.uilleann-pipes.de I'm sure you will find several other offers on the web.

You might also want to head down to the local sporting goods store and check out gun cases. Sometimes you can find one on sale for 30-50 bucks.

They're big enough sometimes for two sets! Certainly enough room for regs and drones.

I have a case from Seth Gallagher. It has worked very well so far and even survived a plane flight across the US.

this is Seth's website.
