Flutes in a time of coronavirus

Post by jemtheflute »

In these troubled times, with sessions and normal social music as well as performances, gigs etc. all cancelled, like many others I'm using social media to post regular videos showcasing and re-exploring particular flutes and tunes as a means of focussed and sort-of shared musical activity.

I'm afraid the videos are only in an album on Facebook, so may not be readily accessible to FB refuseniks.

Here's the album link to my Covid-19 tune/flute a day video album

At time of posting there are 3 videos already posted, all on C19th flutes so far. :D

Enjoy! And look out for daily (I hope) additions.

Blocked by the Facebook "member" sign on! Departed quite a few years ago and won't be rejoining. Like your idea. Perhaps consider other sharing platforms? Cheers

Sorry guys. I deliberately chose to put them directly on FB rather than on YouTube. It's too much hassle uploading to multiple platforms (though I only use those two anyway) just now, or uploading a backlog. They were partly a response to other stuff on FB anyway.

I'm now up to 22 videos, each with a different tune on a different flute, each with a preamble about the instrument in use.

This is No.20 on a Geoffrey Ellis keyless Pratten-style flute in marbled Ebonite: https://www.facebook.com/story.php?stor ... =605989270

That's good to know. Thanks, Keith. It certainly used to be the case that non-FBers could see stuff if it was posted in just the right way and then shared to them with the correct link format.

Tell us something.: I really enjoy the information and experience from the members on this forum. I've learned so much from the long time members about ITM, flutes, and whistles in general. I also enjoy the humor and culture. Instrument reviews have been helpful and the posts on embouchure are priceless. As I generally don't get out to sessions, the information from this board is my only connection at times to the music.
