Orkon on eBay

Post by Feadoggie »

http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-E-V-Powell- ... dZViewItem

There is a relatively rare keyed whistle known as the Orkon on eBay right now. It's gone beyond my current budget. I thought I'd show a link here in case anyne else is interested. Seems some notable players are interested too.

Hmmmm.... It is located in Paige, Texas, just the other side of Houston. If anyone here wins it, I will be glad to go pick it up for you. :)

Tommy,

If I were still in the bidding, and won, I'd take you up on that offer. These don't come up all that often. I would love to take measurements on one.

Well, I hope Joanie won it!

$1,302 is the most I have seen one of these go for. Did anyone here win it? Does anyone here have one? Anyone played one?

I'm surprised when the subject of orkons comes up we don't get numerous Mork and his home planet jokes.

Tell us something.: I have too many whistles and am beginning to sell off some of the ones which don't get played including French pewter antiques and some very old Clarke and Generation lead fipple instruments.

Should anyone be interested in hearing the orkon/orcon flute/whistle played, there's a recording on FolkTrax of Paddy Breen entitled "The Rambling Irishman" that offers a full display of its capabilities. See https://folktrax-archive.org/menus/cassprogs/078.htm for availability.

Best wishes.

Good luck with it -- they're nice little whistles!
