Tell us something.: Just updating my profile after 16+ years of C&F membership. Sold most of my flutes, play the ones I still own and occasionally still enjoy coming here and read about flute related subjects.

Yes thanks Rune. Just back from the Irish festival in Gothenburg, the Glenntown Festival. Many flute players there in a couple of sessions, and a good concert on the Saturday night.

Hi Steampacket,

McNeela has been using ebay as a shopfront in addition to their own website for a while now. So those items are the same as in the main website, and nothing extremely rare.

I have a Balckwood Murray from McNeela. It's divine.

Something I don't quite understand here : Each of those 4 sales says "More than 10 available", yet the wording underneath says "Please allow four to six weeks for your Sam Murray Keyed Flute". Maximum "shipping time to "Rest of the World is 14 days. So if there are "more than 10 available", and the maximum "shipping time" is 14 days, why do you have to "allow 4 - six weeks" for your flute ?
4 categories, each with "more than 10 available". Was Sam ever so industrious in the past ?
I got mine in 1993 - still a wonderful flute - but that had a waiting time of almost a year then. McNeela's has 40 of them ?

Hi Kenny,

I think that's just an artifact of ebay store listings, and McNeela has not updated it. Shipping time is after McNeela gets the flute from Sam. I am pretty sure Sam only makes when an order is actually received by McNeela. There's no way there are 40 at McNeela's.

Still, 4 – 6 weeks for a new keyed flute?

Best wishes.

I note the lead time is up to 10 weeks now

Would these lead times be possible if he's exclusively supplying to McNeela?

There certainly seems to be a lack of clarity in this matter. The infamous Wikipedia has a very short article about Sam Muuray, and Sean Murray, who I believe is his son. It also has a COI flag (Conflict of Interest) showing the article has been edited by someone with ´an external relationship´ to the subject matter of the article.
It would be helpful if someone with a closer understanding of this situation could address it candidly here in this forum.

The Wiki entry is a basic factual biographic entry, I don't think there's anything controversial about it. A slightly more extensive entry, written by Harry Bradley, can be found in the 'Companion to Irish Traditional Music' 2nd edition, p 477.

Nevertheless, the wiki article has been flagged as coming from someone with an identified conflict of interest.
