I have just read a Facebook post reporting that Michael (Mick) Hughes, owner of Hughes's pub in Dublin, has died suddenly.
Hughes's has long been one of the main pub supporters of traditional music in Dublin.
If this news is true, it is a very sad day indeed. I've been going in that pub at least 5 or 6 times a year for the past 20 years. I've always been made welcome, as has every other musician and friend of the music.
