Tell us something.: I'm new to Tin Whistle. I'm most interested in the application to "my musical library".... secondary interest in Irish music.

I have not played one. I do not think there is a low D to be played by fingertips. Unless it is off pitch and the buyer accepts off pitch. Or the very seldom person with long double jointed fingers?

I’m highly skeptical of the claims. Some actual sounds clips on the page would help. Better yet a tour of the low D.

Why? Does somebody consider it advantageous to play with their fingertips? What would the advantage be?

The disadvantage is to throw the hands into a position of greater strain.

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

I wouldn't be able to cope with the offset finger holes. It's just not natural for me. They have to be straight.

Straight holes? No thanks, I want mine round.

I bought a low D flute with offset holes, it was, possibly a mistake, as I can now cover the normal in line holes quite well, however, it doesn't preclude one from playing it, you just use the second joint of your finger, instead of the tip, on those holes.

Tell us something.: I have played whistles and flutes for many years, but I am looking to get more serious with it. I mostly play Irish traditional music, but I want to expand into native american as well.

I have a Doug Tipple transverse flute with what he calls "ergonomic" holes. They seem to be oval and slanted in a direction that doesn't feel right to my fingers. I find it difficult to play.
Cheers!
