three Copeland high Ds on Ebay now

Post by pancelticpiper »

I don't see Copelands on Ebay all that often, and now there are three at the same time, in brass, nickel, and silver.

I wish the sellers would always include the date they were made (if they know it).

Are the approximate dates of the Copeland serial numbers known?

Serial numbers:

Brass: 2521

Silver: 3317

Nickel: none of the photos have a visible serial number. I don't know if the whistle lacks one, or if none of the photos happen to show it. I asked the seller to include a photo showing the serial number.

I don’t see the Nickel Copeland, did it sell?

Curious why the manufacture date is particularly important to you?

Forgot to mention: There have been threads on Copeland serial numbers and dates of manufacture, have you tried a search? (Granted, the forum search function is not great)

The nickel Copeland is listed from Tyrone, UK. This whistle had been on eBay in Dec 2017 and apparently didn't sell and is relisted.

What I always like to know is whether the seller is the original and only owner of whistle, or used and bounced around for the tinkerers to play with?

Three up at a time... now is your chance to be an owner.

Ah, I thought that might be the case, on auction outside the U.S., thanks.

I’m all set on Copelands at the moment, so I’ll leave them for someone as yet less fortunate.

I was going to make a joke about being wary of The Jolly Tinker, but......

Because I've played Copelands made at various points of time.

The un-serial Nickle D was mine. Sold originally to a fella who didn't want to pay... Relisted and sold for £260. It was nice enough, not my favorite ever Copeland. No serial number stamped, suggesting an early product.

The sterling silver Copeland sold for $1146.00 USD without very much bidding. I didn't bid because the auctions can be tricky with shills and snipers. I hope the winner is happy with the whistle.

I've been after a Copeland sterling silver high D whistle for at least 5 or 6 years now. I would have bid, but, for a start, I've had trouble with UK customs when buying from the States, and it's put me off, and, secondly, the guy selling it was simultaneously inviting direct bids outside of the auction process. I don't like that. That's the main reason I didn't bid. I would have been happy to pay more than the winning bid. But I'm happy with the outcome, and hope the winner enjoys their purchase.

I almost had the silver one. I was imagining the feel of the silver in my hands when with 1 second left I was outbid. Always next time, I suppose. Though it does seem unlikely a mint condition silver copeland from the latter half of his career will ever be so affordable.

Someone with an automatic snipe on it, I should think. If you didn't have one on that item, you were never going to get it.

[Thread revival - Mod]

I am soon to post a Sterling silver Copeland Soprano D on EBay. It’s one of the first he ever made, and he recently had it back in his shop for a reunion! Let me know if interested. Msg me if interested.
