In the U.S., Barnes & Noble published a decent compendium of (mostly) 19th-century folk tales by Yeats, Lady Wilde, and their like. I was given a copy as a gift, and was pleasantly surprised at the quality and original sources (as much as possible).

The Wailing Banshee or the Lilting Banshee could come in handy. Though I'm responding too late to be much help this year.

Strange. I just gave it a go and stopping short of making the payment it worked for me. A location restriction?

The book is also widely available elsewhere , including on Amazon (sent links in PM)

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Worked for me too. (But, like you, I stopped short of paying ...)
