WTB: Highland pipes

Post by Seamie »

Hi all......
Gonna dust off my kilt (....and some old band tunes).
Looking for a set of Naills, older Kintails- pretty flexible. Don't have to be mint as I'd probably overhaul 'em anyway.
Just trying to get a feel for what's out there.

Thank you
Seamus

Might keep an eye peeled on the Trading Post over at bobdunsire.com. There's a couple sets of Hardies ('50s and '70s), and a set of Hendersons.

I have a set of 1960s Lawries in great condition on Ebay for under $700.

They have a nice big tone, and are very stable and easy to reed.

I would play them more but I have a couple very nice 1940s sets, Starcks and Hendersons(?)

Actually the Lawrie drones have a bigger sound than either, and play at 484 with the tenors high up on the pins in the typical Lawrie way.

Of course with the new restrictions African Blackwood must be accompanied by a CITES certificate to cross international borders.
