Tell us something.: I started with playing bamboo flutes. But I transitioned to primarily playing the Boehm flute a few lessons ago with the aim of getting good music instruction. However, I've been transitioning to playing Irish Traditional Music on simple flutes.

I was at the launch this afternoon. Great music. Saw you taking pictures Mr Gumby but didn't recognise you without your handkerchief, so nice to put face to the name.

I left the hankie at home, the nice weather and all. At the launch was wrongfooted by the microphones and struggling to find any acceptable angle. I was in the same room most days during the week for the Riches of Clare concerts, getting pics without being too visible, not so easy this time. They could easily have done it without all the gear, the other concerts managed just fine.

Here's a couple of videos of Steph and her band playing some reels and jigs from the album "Up she flew":

I love the tone she gets from that Grinter. It sounds amazingly sweet, great blowing control.

I wondered what flute she was playing. Steph can really play, and yes, great control and tone. I must practice more on my embouchure that's for sure.

I noticed on one of the videos the zouk was capoed at the 6th fret, and it made me wonder if she was playing an Eb flute. I’m out of town without instruments or I’d compare the notes with my own.
