Hello folks,
Picked this lovely flute up a few weeks back, but I am listed it available for trade for a decent D flute as I have a few gigs coming up in Europe and a second D flute is probably a good idea.
This Victorian 8-key flute is stamped BESSON & Co 55 EUSTON ROAD LONDON.
F. Besson & Co was a manufacturer & dealer of musical instruments with an outlet at this Euston Road address recorded in the 1884 London Business Directory.
Last owner had it professionally serviced/restored in London including new corks on keys, the head-barrel cork was replaced and retuned.
The head and tuning-slide both have a treated hair-line crack, however this doesn’t affect the playing as these sections have an inner metal lining.
The flute is made from cocus wood, weight is - 375gm/13ozs. Being a Pratten - Perfected model it is large-holed with a large volume - ideal for playing Irish traditional music.
Looking for a good keyed or keyless D flute, hit me in a private message with what you have. No to fussed about parting with it, but may consider selling.
Flute is in Glasgow, Scotland. Thanks
