Re: Peter O'Loughlin - RIP
Indeed, he'd almost make music of anything he put his hand on, and such taste, timing and tuning in his playing. Blas. I guess he would be the last of that generation of the Tulla band too? RIP.

Thanks Peter, I was sure you'd know . I watched his TG4 documentary again last night, he made such an impression on all who knew him. [edit: the disappearing thread...]

Re: Peter O'Loughlin - RIP
Thanks for that Peter.
A fine musician and sad news on his departure.
I always associate him with the flat session in Hillarys' during Willie Clancy week. He would take out a pitch pipe and play one note. Everyone had to tune to that note and he was very strict on the tuning. I remember Sean Potts Snr telling me that even he was very nervous of his tuning around Peter. A very formidable character by all accounts.
Cheers
John

Re: Peter O'Loughlin - RIP
I'm sorry to hear this. I never knew Peter and didn't know he was unwell, I often saw him often out and about during Willie Week over the years and we'd nod. I see that Peter plays the pipes on five tracks on the "A musical life" CD from 2015. I'm in the process of updating the "Uilleann discography" now I have the time. I wonder if there are more recordings of Peter playing the pipes.

He played some, I believe, on at least one of the Bunratty singers lps, I have bits on tapes somewhere. Can't think of anything else immediately but if there's anything else, it may come to me later.I'm in the process of updating the "Uilleann discography" now I have the time. There are ofcourse private recordings.
