Which type of flute do you play.

Hi, I've just joined & would be interested to hear which type of flute you play. :)

I have a pre used Gemeinhardt flute & a pre used Yamaha piccolo that I need to get to know.

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

8-keyed, simple system, conical bore, wooden flute made in 1838.

I really don't know. I bought it off eBay some years ago. It's a good one, plays beautifully and is in almost perfect condition. It's a Rudall and Rose. You'll find many people on this site with similar flutes, I should imagine.

I'm not much of a flute player. When I do, it's on a homemade PVC job. I'm more of a whistler/fiddler, and aspiring piper. Uilleann pipes are an amazing instrument but rather demanding.

You can't limit yourself to just one.

I play:
A Jupiter dimedici Bohm flute
An Olwell pratten keyless
A delrin keyless Copley
And a 5 key Martin freres f flute

I love them all.

Mainly Copley custom four-key Solomon Blackwood D and keyless Delrin D/Eb simple system.
Sometimes Trevor James (solid silver) or Pearl (silver plate) Boehm system or Vincent Bernolin resin A=415 baroque flute (Delusse with Palanca-style embouchure).
I've had others... notably a Rudall Carte cocus Boehm system I bought last year and sold shortly afterwards after deciding I didn't need it...
And we in dreams behold the Hebrides.

Tell us something.: I've been a whistle player for over 40 years now, which is a sobering thought. I got started on a battered old Generation D and, well, just never stopped really!

Current gigs are The Powderkegs border morris, the concert band Trebuchet with our music theatre show The Mill Ballads www.themillballads.com, and Welsh dance band Caffl.

Cameron Grenser (traverso)
Bleazey boxwood keyless
Copley polymer keyless
Aulos polymer Stanesby Jr (traverso)

The latter two are primarily for traveling.
