Post by Fergmaun »

Has anyone used flat copper wire for bridles on reeds.

I use usually Bare copper wire for bridle 0.60mm 23 SWG type Andreas Rogge uses.
But also use sheet cooper for Bridle K&S Copper Sheet 0.64mm and sheet copper 0.5mm thickness.

Cheers

I just got a roll of "dead soft" (as it was described) copper - about 1/8" wide, 0.020" and over 100 ft. long (3mm x 0.5mm x 100m?) for around $30 (US). It seems perfect for bridles - using an inch+ per reed should get at least 1000 bridles per roll...so, yes. The stuff I got was not from K & S, however.

Here it is...

Where in UK, Ireland or even in Europe could you get the roll of dead soft copper.

They ship, probably...

The stuff is called "bezel strip". I don't know what it is for, but perhaps a jewellery-making supplier there carries something similar.

Thank you! This is very useful information, and Rio Grande is located right where I live. I've been wanting to get away from the wrapped wire bridals for awhile.
