A Thank you to the Tunes

Post by janmarie »

I am fluting and having my morning coffee amazed with our tunes. The more you play one the more it gives new ways to say the almost same thing. It just never ends. So beautiful, so fun and so simple. Really grateful for this forum and the tunes.

It is a nice thought. An old friend of mine, now gone, always felt strongly about the therapeutic quality of the tunes we played. Music in many ways helps us to preserve at least some of our sanity.

But spare a thought for the people who came up with the tunes and put their life and soul into them before handing them on. Tunes in themselves, they're nothing when not in the hands of a musicians to lovingly breathe life into them and hand them on with a part of themselves attached to them.. Tunes are in a way a living memory little twists such or such person added to them along the way or deliberately put in a turn as a nod to a beloved player who always used to play it that way. You may love the tune but it's all about people and places and without that connection a tune is just a sound blowing away on the wind..

Indeed, and loving a tune is profound in itself.
The rest of it as you say makes it all the more
wonderful.
Information is not knowledge.
Knowledge is not wisdom.
Wisdom is not truth.
Truth is not beauty. Beauty is not love.
Love is not music. Music is the best.
