Software for music query

Post by accordionstu »

Hello I am not sure if this has been covered on here but I have struggled to find it in the archives.

I want to be able to play an instrument (Flute) and have it pop up on my PC screen with the dots so that I may print ot off for someone. Does anyone know of a piece of software that can do this, preferably free as its for a one off tune.

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Tunepal will do that to an extent. It's been years since I've used Tunepal in that way - I normally just play a snippet and look at what the tune is, or use it to search for a tune I can't quite remember some bits of. But it certainly used to have a "transcribe" function, which used to do pretty much what you want. There must be others out there ...
