No, you're not. The recipient has not checked his PMs and retrieved his message, and it remains in your Outbox until he does. That's normal.

FWIW, the recipient has not picked up my PM to him either. :moreevil:

I still have a message in my Outbox since January 2007. I guess that particular user is not coming back.

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Then again, some members will log in to post but just don't check their inboxes for some reason, unfathomable though that may be.

Of course, e-mail notifications are on by default, so that's an easy way to be alerted to check PMs. It's also easy to set pop-up notifications on. And there's no downside to configuring a pop-up blocker to allow them, since we don't display pop-up ads.

I think we mods assume that PMs should follow the same general guidelines and rules as on-board posts - including timely response when called for (though I'm as guilty as the next one about sometimes, but only sometimes, falling down on that score). In fact, PM responsiveness is currently in the ChiffCo discussion queue ...

I've had a similar problem.

I've got "notifications" set on, but I've only been getting emails notifying me of PM's sporadically. A few times, a week has passed before I checked PM's and replied. It's frustrating to see a PM that has been there for a week without having gotten a notice.

I thought "notifications" set on meant that every PM triggered an email.

Yes indeed, that's supposed to be the case.
