Hi, I have a question on which I haven't found an answer yet. Surely every-one knows the Romanian gipsy band Taraf de Haidouks. I admire the art of the flute player of the band George Falcaru. He plays from what I know of it a ney or nai. I was wondering if any-body knows the maker of his flute. It doesn't look like a Turkish or Arabian flute so it must be made in Romania. I posted here because I don't regard it as a whistle but a flute like the Kaval. Maybe somebody on the forum knows more. I found not much on the Net. Many thanks,
Ron
P.S
If you don't know what I'm talking about, go to youtube and search for Taraf de haidouks. Thanks.

Re: Ney/nai Romanian flute
it could be a bulgarian kaval, a rim-blown flute similar to the ney, but the traditional kaval is bigger than it, bulgarian kaval is in low D or Low C (it's long like a low whistle)
In my opinion he plays a frula, a simple fipple flute very common in eastern Europe

- Tell us something.: I'm here because I just wanted to change my location... but it turns out much more complicated than I thought. Do I already have the 100 required characters?

If you mean the instrument that is played in this video from 0'20" on - it is a fluier, basically a wooden 6-hole whistle.
Unfortunately I don't know who makes these in good quality, I have one which is very bad (but was very cheap...).
