Haven't ordered a new one yet, I'm waiting for Tim to finalise his design (he was done tuning the second octave the last time I saw him) and then I'll order one from him. They felt good (for being prototypes) when I visited him a few months ago, and you can't beat the price of one either. Hopefully the Bishop's Arms sessions will begin again shortly and I'll have a chat about it with him there.

If you're looking at the beginning pages of this thread (or any other really old pages for that matter) then the issue is that the photos have long since been removed from the places where they formerly lived out on the internet. When people post photos here, the photos don't live on the C&F web server. The person who posts the photo has to upload them to a photo sharing site or their own server, etc.

Cheers,

Kirk

New Rob Forbes Pratten-esque short foot Delrin flute. Got it a few days ago.
Intonation is lovely, sound is strong and resonant, the flute buzz between your fingers! :)
Very impressed so far! A bargain for the price, really!

A local maker of pipes, Ian Corrigan (first class engineer & instrument maker, plus a great help to Bill & I)
Has used it to make whistles, he was very impressed by it's engineering qualities, its close grain, lightness & pinkness. I also happened to perchance upon some very good and even quality billets. It actually darkens to a rich light maroon in time. We have been very impressed by the Pink Ivory too. The whistles made so far have endured, so far without cracks etc. An example of Ian's whistles in the hands of an old friend of mine Paul Martin; http://youtu.be/3WChHWF9grE

The time has come to share some photos of my Rudall and Rose (#3632).

I bought this flute from a live on line auction last February. It was listed as a Rundall and Rose.
It had a crack through the embouchure to which Chris Wilkes has applied his skill and magic

I think the case is the original.

Tell us something.: in two words, Rudall & Rose. but since a minimum of 100 characters is required, I should list a number of makers I found extremely interesting… I don't even know how much are 100 characters...

The Pink Ivory has a lovely waxy texture, the whistle at the bottom is included to show how the wood darkens but this wood looks promising... can't wait to try it... (Whistle by Ian Corrigan)

You know what, you made me really curious now :D
It should be just a bit less dense than boxwood (and water) right?

I think it'll be a similar weight to Box, as you suggest but much lighter than the heavy Rose-woods.

This was very much an experiment but I think it is so impressive we''ll try a few more. It appears resistant to water and as I say the whistle pictured is a few years old and hasn't developed any cracks (brass lined tuning slide) so it all looks promising...
