Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

I think the black dot just indicates a thread in which you have contributed.

But, wait a minute ... is that a bell?? I thought it was a piece of toast.

Or it can mean that a posse comitatus of pirates has voted to depose you.

I always considered you predispossessed. And I thought the bell, or toast, was a post it note? dammit!

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

It is a slice of cheese. In perspective.

I suppose that's another take on it, but not my question, no.

*sigh* I would suppose that it is cage bedding.

That would most likely be mostly absorbent whatever and a bit of poo.

Are you becoming British?

Oh, you're no fun.

Impossible. I think I'm as Yank as hotdogs. True, every now and then someone tells me I talk funny, but that's nothing new. And now you. Well, maybe I can explain if you've got a moment and can forgive me for talking about myself: Granddad was originally Canadian, from New Brunswick to be exact, and his 2nd wife would teach me a bit of general Scots vocabulary, so all that patterning was in my ears from early on if it accounts for anything. And then the Irish thing kept bubbling up apparently all on its own, for Mom would yell at us kids for saying "dis" and "dat" and the like. But when I told her I was taking up Irish flute, all her compunctions about proper English couldn't prevent her from saying, "Air ye?". Combine all that with the Minnesota thing and I'm just plain screwed, now, aren't I. I do try, but it gets away from me.

FWIW, my Scots friends have said that my overall character is more comprehensible to them than that of most other U.S. natives they encounter. I don't know what to make of that, and I couldn't tell you what they're talking about. Well, that's another issue.
