Snow City Cafe, downtown, Irish Music Night (session). Wednesdays, 7pm-11pm, very local/lowkey flavor. Still going strong to date; some dance/dance instruction coincides, with attendant clearing of tables, chairs and diners, and a bit of friendly recruiting amongst patrons. Not usually a LOT of whistle, but 5-8 players of all flavors is a safe bet.

Pleasant aire, sort of a post-structural cafe, with structure...

Website details available for the interested. C&F forums search yields just two sidelong, dated references to this venue; it deserves formal entry here, an update for the AK travellers amongst you, in search of the vibe.

Goodbye Snow City

Sad to say, the last session at Snow City a week ago ended a seven year run for trad musicians and dancers alike. The owner made a business decision, and Snow City will no longer be open after 4pm. So effectively, music, participants and players out on the street in the snow for now. Okay, there isn't that much snow, yet. But that's a little too post-structural, for AK in the winter. About 80 people attended the 8-10 players lively last call.

Happy to say McGinleys Irish Pub, at 6th and G, now hosts sessions Wednesdays at 8pm.
