Main session in Oxford is at the Half Moon on Sunday nights. Located on St Clements and popular with musicians and singers from Irish and English traditional music.
Great Irish tunes only (hooray) session at the Exeter Hall, Cowley Rd, Wed nights.
Also of interest is a traditional French session on the 2nd Tuesday on the month, 9pm at the Chester Arms, Chester St. Great bagpipe and Hurdy Gurdy led session. This session often will have dancers as well as musicians, something I have never seen before at a pub session.
Thursday nights is the best open mike night in town, the catweazle club, East Oxford Community Centre, Cowley Rd. Musicians get there before 8.30pm to book a spot, punters beofre 9. See www.catweazleclub.org for details (and a pretty groovy photo of me). Has some great ITM musicians on a regular basis.
We also have the Oxford Folk Festival during Easter and, of course, the 'Floating Tionol' in June.
